Considering the TPACK Model, there has been discussion around what sorts of technical knowledge teachers should have to facilitate contemporary learning.
No one has ever suggested that teachers should undertake IT degrees or learn to cut code, as they are educators not IT specialists.
This info graphic developed by Med Kharbach, based on Doug Johnson’s post on the 10 social media competencies for teachers captures some key competencies really well. Well worth discussing with staff at your school.
I do just want to add that true to the TPACK Model, the application of these competencies has to be connected to teachers content or curriculum knowledge (Not just blogging about blogging) and must be considered and delivered with an understanding of how that teacher knows their students learn best (pedagogy).
