The Hawkesdale P-12 home base is a perfect example of how a blog can be used to contain links to all the staff and student activities that are happening within one school. It also doubles and provides a great place to showcase and celebrate some staff and student work.
Murrumbeena Primary School , Doncaster Secondary Collage and Horsham West Primary School are currently, under the guidance of Heather Blakey, building home bases. Burners Blog is another good example of the benefit of making good use of the linking capacity of blogs. A collective like this is easy to access and enables all members of the school community to engage and comment on the work that is being done.
Make sure to comment here and share ideas about this imaginative publishing forum and how something like this would be of benefit to your school.

A terrific blog.We are looking at creating a directory for our school.
I think it would be very useful as it would promote the features of our school to the broader community
Very nice at this time of year
Blogging – How can it be useful at DSC. Agenda item for ALT next meeting.
I am impressed by this as it’s my first look at blogging, so anything would look good. I can see benefits to my school in having a facility like this.
Great way of creating work to a new global audience
Benefit of this forum is the sharing of ideas and experiences by a wide audience.
fun way of communicating information
I think it would be an invaluable means of communication for Doncaster Secondary College as it will help raise our image and profile in the community.
Can’t accuse the dog of eating the work
Thank you Heather for mentioning our humble little Burners blog in such illustrious company. I must say that in the short time we have been blogging the kids have had a ball and are so excited about the visitors we have already have. Thanks to you and Anne from Hawkesdale P12, our new project has been one of great enjoyment. It is great to have such a supportive community to help teachers who are new to blogging. Good luck to the teachers at Doncaster SC I hope that they will enjoy blogging as much as we are.
Gareth’s warning is scary indeed! What a fabulous idea, in so many ways. Congratulations on creating something so useful.
Thank you for highlighting the work of the schools. It has been 12 months now, since Heather came into our school and conducted a workshop with us on blogging. Our backyard blog was born, and it has now become a very big backyard, with the school homebase blog showing how many staff are now on board with the fabulous tool of blogging. The students are constantly driving our direction and actually directing their own learning.
Great to see Hawkesdale’s blog up and flying a great example of how schools, teachers and students can connect locally and globally. Well done guys.
