These webinars offer useful support to schools. I have found students engage with them and they provide an ideal kick off point for further discussion and learning.
However, the limits on accessibility mean many schools and classes miss out. Having only one time option is very limiting. Safer Internet Day should be over a week with the sessions available in a variety of time slots. Once timetables are set at the start of the year there is little flexibility for schools to change and move classes around or alter recess and lunch times. Having only one time slot for the Cyberbullying webinar is equally restrictive.
This year my school has been unable to participate in these events because of the limited availability.
If the main objective is too provide quality information and resourcing to teachers and students, please have a variety of session times available.
Consider too extending Safer Internet Day to a week. It makes it easier for schools to address in their programs and timetables.
