The PLP ConnectU Project aims to support DEECD teachers in understanding the power of creating collaborative spaces and using web 2 tools to enhance their classroom practice as well as explore ways to make online communities sustainable. Participants will engage in their Ultranet Collaborative spaces and Global2 to present a collaborative PBL (Project Based Learning) for their students with a global audience. Teachers will be provided with opportunities to develop their Ultranet Collaborative and Design spaces with participants across the project and will be supported to create Ultranet Learning Tasks that will enhance their PBL with their students. The Ultranet, in combination with Global2, will be the vehicle to present their learnings at the Culminating Learning Showcase.

Powerful Connections
The 70 teachers who attended the PLPConnectU kick off in March were certainly inspired by the discussions they were part of during the presentations of Will Richardson and Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach. It was the initial face to face meeting of the Powerful Learning Practice ConnectU project, which has been sponsored by DEECD and will run throughout 2011. The project aims to challenge traditional schooling as we know it and to introduce educators to the transformative technologies available to enrich education through making connections based on passions.
plpconnectu 018-1Mel Cashen from Lightning Reef Primary School commented “We are very lucky to have the opportunity to work with amazing educators who share the vision of teaching and learning in the 21st century. Not only have we been inspired by Will and Sheryl and their vision for education but now have the support of Powerful Learning Practice teachers across the world to make a difference for education today and into the future. I am excited to challenge my teaching and build on a community of people who can help me to develop lifelong learners in the students I teach along with fantastic tools such as the Ultranet and Global2.” Follow the conversation of the PLPConnectU Project on twitter at #plpconnectu.
